Free Biostatistics and Data Management Services Available to CHOP Investigators
The CHOP Biostatistics and Data Management Core (BDMC) continues to offer free services for CHOP researchers. These services include:
Grant Applications – We collaborate with investigators to develop the study design, write the statistical analysis section (including power and sample size calculations), and write the data collection, database development, and data management procedures. If the BDMC is included in the grant’s budget, then assistance with the grant submission is offered free of charge. It is expected that if the BDMC assists with a grant submission, then our services will be used during the period of award.

Consulting – We provide options and guidance for conducting statistical analyses and developing database management systems using tools such as REDCap. Following the initial, free consultation, cost estimates are provided if additional support is needed.

Biostatistics Walk-In Clinic – The BDMC offers a free weekly walk-in clinic to CHOP students, residents, fellows, and faculty every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Roberts Center, 9th floor. A BDMC biostatistician is available for statistical consultation in 30-minute appointments on a first come, first served basis. The purpose of these appointments is to answer general statistical questions and to provide guidance for current and future projects. We are unable to fully design projects and run analyses during these appointments. For a consultation, please call a biostatistician upon arrival to the Roberts Center: Xuemei Zhang (51353), Rachel Rogers (51352), or Okan Elci (51354). No appointments are needed. If additional assistance is needed outside of the allotted 30 minutes, please contact Linda Sprouse to discuss next steps.
